Any questions?

Hey folks, leave some questions! Challenge me! Maybe you don't like the lack of photos? Well, I'll keep this blog up for a while longer, and see what happens. . .

you mentioned tipping your tattooist. i'm thinking about getting a tattoo (haven't yet found the right image but still looking) and have been wondering about that. can you post on appropiate tip percentages/amounts based on hour or piece? thanks! :)

Hello all.
First things First, Let me say thank you. Your blog is very interesting and informative, especially for the tattoo window shopper, and what i mean by that, is I've never commissioned a tattoo artist.
So not to drabble on, I'll get to the point. I have many friends with some serious tattoos, and I'm considering getting one from a particular artist who's work i admire.
I would like to give him some artistic lea-way, because being an artist of sorts, i find that the best results happen when the artist can get into his work and own it. The idea is simple enough but requires many fine lines and much detail, could you give your thoughts or advice about keeping a tattoo looking fresh with regards to design? thank you! Osgood

Hi. This blog isn't even active anymore. I guess it's true that nothing disappears on the Web. As to your question, a tattoo with lots of detail and many fine lines does not hold up well over time, in my tattoo artists' opinions. Did the artist already "okay" your idea? Some people do that kind of work, of course, but as far as looking "fresh", lots of detail and fine lines tend to run together with age, or fade more than designs that are more open and less detailed.
